When Running a Consolidation Received Error 'Lost Network Connection to Application Files'

Symptoms


When running a consolidationĀ getting the errorĀ 'Lost network connection to Application Files'

Changes

The category producing the error had been manually edited by renaming the Category .DAT file. This is not a recommended procedure.

Cause


The category.dat files had been manually renamed in Windows Explorer to allow editing and then named back. Afterwards the consolidation would fail

Files should not be manually edited. If changes to the category settings are required follow the process to rebuild a cateory.

Solution


Restore the database from backup
