How To Generate Verbose Debug Log Of Smartview Client Installation

Goal

This procedure is to be used where requested by Oracle's Hyperion Smartview development where the customer experiences difficulty installing the client component of Hyperion Smartview. 

Hyperion Smartview is the software used to add features to Microsoft Office 2000, 2003 or 2007 in order to retrieve and submit data to and from the Hyperion System 9 suite or Oracle EPM Suite of products.

Solution

Oracle's Hyperion Smartview development team are sometimes required to troubleshoot installation issues.

It will help them, particularly for issues where the installation fails to complete, if an installation is performed using the following DOS command in an MS-DOS prompt.

smartview.exe /v"/l*v \"c:\logfiles\installation.log\""

The log from this command should be attached to a Service Request with Global Customer Support if requested by Smartview development.
